8FIGURES founder and CEO Andrew Izyumov — a CFA charterholder and former Executive Director at Goldman Sachs — recently joined Max Adams on Wall Street Mastermind’s Wall Street Diaries podcast. The conversation ranged from his path through Goldman’s Special Situations Group to building an AI-native investment adviser, but one idea tied it together: AI is reshaping finance, yet the human operator — and a grounding in fundamentals — still decides the outcome.
Izyumov’s central point will land with anyone watching AI move through finance. Work that used to take hours — building models, entering data, assembling presentations — can now be done in minutes with AI tools. For a junior professional, he frames that as roughly a 10x multiplier on output.
But the multiplier comes with a condition. AI results, he argues, are only as good as the person directing them. The people who benefit most are the ones who still master the fundamentals — the kind of principles taught in the CFA curriculum — because that judgment is what lets you orchestrate AI tools and, just as importantly, verify what they produce. Embrace AI, in other words, but don’t outsource your understanding to it.
That philosophy — AI amplifying human judgment rather than replacing it — is the same one underneath 8FIGURES.
In the interview, Izyumov described how 8FIGURES uses a multi-agent AI system designed to work like a professional investment team. Rather than a single chatbot, the platform is built around specialized agents — for example, a stock analyst, a risk manager, and a tax-aware adviser — that work together on a portfolio.
Because those agents are given an individual’s actual goals, risk tolerance, and holdings — across public markets, real estate, startups, and crypto — the aim is guidance that is proactive and specific to that person, rather than generic information. You can see how the engine is built on our AI Investment Advisor page, and how we approach AI-assisted advice in our AI Advice Disclosure.
The approach reflects where Izyumov came from. He spent more than a decade at Goldman Sachs in the Special Situations Group — a team with an unusually broad, cross-asset mandate spanning public equities, credit, real estate, and venture investments. That vantage point, he explained, gives you a holistic view of how capital moves across asset classes and market cycles — the opposite of a narrow, single-strategy specialty. He also pointed to lessons from sitting on portfolio-company boards, where strategy, performance, and people decisions all come together.
It’s that cross-asset, whole-portfolio lens — historically reserved for institutions — that 8FIGURES is built to bring to individual investors.
For all the talk of automation, the conversation kept returning to judgment — the part AI doesn’t replace. Whether it’s weighing a decision the way a board does, or knowing which fundamentals matter before trusting a model’s output, the lesson for investors mirrors the one for analysts: AI is a powerful tool, but it works best in the hands of someone who understands what it’s doing.
